Case Study: Langley School Birmingham LED Lighting
Langley School in Shirley Birmingham, a secondary school with academy status, recently commissioned an energy-saving LED lighting upgrade project. Which was carried out by NICEIC electricians Able Electric
Project Overview
In July Able Electric designed and delivered a highly efficient LED lighting upgrade to Langley Secondary School. All survey work, project specifications, and funding were undertaken by Able Electric and our LED lighting provider at no cost to the school.
Able Electric delivered a bespoke upgrade which reduced Langley School’s energy costs greatly. All previous fluorescent lights were replaced with new LED fixtures, which is more energy-efficient, require less maintenance, and have a life expectancy of around 15 years.
LED Design
Able Electric surveyed Langley School, in order to design and propose an extensive upgrade to their inefficient lighting system.
The impact of these technologies was clearly explained – the total energy demand reduction, how much Langley School will save per year, and the carbon emission reductions at the School.
Delivery
Able Electric secured industry-leading products at highly competitive prices and completed the project across the school’s summer-term holiday to reduce disruption to the school.
In summary, Langley Secondary School will benefit from:
Savings guaranteed to be more than investment
Project payback of around 4 years
100% tax allowance for the first year
Less Maintenance is very important for the school as with such high ceilings it was expensive to keep changing failed lighting. Sometimes the school had to hire lifting equipment to reach the failed lighting. Also with so many lights, there were always plenty of failed fittings which looked terrible now though there are far far fewer failed fittings. Now though all these annoying problems are solved and the school can concentrate on where to spend the savings.
